WHAT IS THE WAND?
Wyoming Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics
WAND is a group of registered dietitian nutritionists and their affiliates. WAND supports a variety of nutrition related activities in the state including National Nutrition Month, The Range Rider newsletter for members, and an annual nutrition education conference.
WAND has a board which oversees the WAND organization, which includes overseeing operation and policy making for the above activities, and implementing programs and policies as directed by the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics. The WAND Board meets a minimum of three times per year and has an annual business meeting which may or may not occur simultaneously with the education meeting.

WHAT WE ARE ABOUT
The Wyoming Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is the professional association for RDNs in Wyoming that:
ADVOCATES
WAND advocates for increasing reimbursement opportunities for medical nutrition therapy, and increasing legislation that impacts RDNs, such as the Farm Bill, diabetes prevention, food security or licensure issues.
PROMOTES
WAND promotes the role of the RDN through connections with ancillary healthcare professionals and associations, speaking opportunities, relationships with state and national lawmakers, and more.
ENCOURAGES
WAND encourages students to become involved by offering student memberships to undergraduate dietetics students and dietetic interns and provides networking opportunities.
FACILITATES
WAND offers member benefits, such as scholarships, local continuing education opportunities, social events, job postings, awards, and more.

Wyoming Academy of Nutrition and Dietetic members are recognized and utilized as the most valued resource for food and nutrition services.
A registered dietitian nutritionist is a professional trained in applying the knowledge of nutrition and health practices to enhance individual health outcomes based on existing health parameters, nutritional intake, and disease incidence. To be a registered dietitian nutritionist one must first complete a four year course of study which focuses on nutritional science, complete a six to twelve month internship, and then pass a registered dietitian nutritionist exam conducted by the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics.
